KUALA LUMPUR: Prudential BSN Takaful Bhd (PruBSN) has introduced a medical plan, Takaful Health, that rewards policyholders with an annual no claim bonus (NCB) — the first of its kind in the country's takaful industry.
Speaking at the launch of the medical plan here yesterday, PruBSN chief operating officer Azim Mithani said policyholders could receive an annual bonus of up to RM500 depending on the package they had taken up.
"Takaful Health has received encouraging response since we commenced sales of the product on Nov 12, 2009," he said in a statement issued in conjunction with the launch of the product. "Takaful Health is a highly innovative product that pays its customers to be healthy and at the
same time, covers them when they are sick," he said, adding that customers could buy Takaful Health in conjunction with either Takafulink or Takafulink Cerdik, PruBSN's investment-linked and educational takaful plans.
Takaful Health provides comprehensive hospital and medical coverage up to age 80 and will reimburse customers for costs of hospitalisation, surgery and outpatient treatments.

For this article I will not talk so much about our very own product so called Takaful Cerdik but I will talk about child insurance in general.

I know many parents out there who is still looking and searching and keep comparing one product to another and ended up getting more confused each time.

I do know some parents who jump from one policy to another as they feel that the earlier policy that they bought didn't really served their needs anymore. This scenario is not a healthy scenario but its pretty norm nowadays.

So you can see here, the keyword are 'NEEDS'. But our needs changes from time to time. So how to make decision and buy now??

Personally, I think insurance is all about PROTECTION first and SAVING later or I shall say SAVING is just a bonus. However there are ways and there are products that can maximized both needs PROTECTION and SAVING. It's all depends on your budget on how much are you willing to allocate each month.

My advise is one, get as much knowledge as possible by not just reading but meeting the right financial planner who can explain to you in details, who is transparent enough to show you the pro and cons of their products. Do not just listen to rumors and do not buy for the hack of buying without accessing your main needs.

Whatever it is, I'm sure we all want the best for our loved ones.
